Haji Ali Dargah

A majestic Islamic architecture that sits like a beautiful island in the middle of the Arabian Sea. This is what famous Haji Ali Daragh is. One of Mumbai’s most striking monuments and also a proud symbol of city’s eternal belief in secularism & religious tolerance. 

For more than a century, this famous Dargah has been testimony of India’s rich architectural heritage and India’s unwavering spirit of diversity. 

Haji Ali Dargah in Mumbai

This Dargah houses tomb of the Muslim Saint Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari, who during 15th century & until his death toiled hard to spread the message of Islam across India. Even though construction of this beautiful Dargah had begun much before Britisher’s came to Mumbai, construction was however completed when Britisher’s were not just undisputed ruler of Mumbai but entire India.

However, large pool of devotees flocking here are not just Muslims, but belong to different faiths & religion. The Dargah also houses a small mosque inside which is another fine attraction of this landmark place. 

Another very significant thing about this monument is that it is connected via long causeway, which only further enhances the beauty of this already beautiful structure.

Major tourist attractions around Haji Ali Dargah

Visiting Haji Ali Daragh also gives you opportunity to visit other tourist attractions too, as there are indeed many worthwhile recreation destinations around this Dargah.

Haji Ali Juice Center

This is immensely popular juice center and is located just few minutes walking distance from dargah. It serves fresh juices and also delicious sandwiches.

Heera Panna Shopping Centre

This is one of the most famous shopping destinations of Mumbai and is located very near to Haji Ali. It is a hub of electronic gadgets where you can buy latest smart phones, music systems, LED TVs and other range of electronic goods. It is also popular for sell wide range of perfume and cosmetic products.

Nehru Planetarium

Although not exactly near to Haji Ali, but via BEST bus or taxi you can reach this place within few minutes. Nehru Planetarium is home to India’s largest science park and obviously a world class planetarium where you can watch animated films on our solar system & galaxies. 

Crossroads Mall (now officially named as Sobo Central)

This famous mall is located a bit far from Haji Ali. The unique thing about this mall is that it was the first shopping mall of India.  Although it has lost much of its yesteryear glory, but it is still home to many international brands and is a great shopping destination all together.

How to reach Haji Ali

Haji Ali is located in Worli (South Mumbai) at Lala Lajpat Rai Marg. Following are the ways you can reach this famous landmark place.

By Rail:
If you’re coming from Western Railway then the nearest stations would be either Mumbai Central station or Mahalaxmi station. In case if you’re coming from Central Railway then the nearest station would be Byculla Station.

By Road:
Haji Ali is very centrally located in South Mumbai, which is one of the prime areas of Mumbai and hence is easily connected via all modes of road transportation.
